Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland and home to 1.2 million inhabitants. Since Dublin produced a vast amount of world famous writers, such as William Butler Yates and James Joyce, it is ranked a UNESCO City of Literature. But Dublin has more on offer: If you fancy a good night out, then make sure to visit some of the pubs in the city’s cultural centre, Temple Bar or visit Dublin when Ireland’s national holiday, St. Patrick’s Day, is celebrated to see the big parade for yourself. What should also be on your agenda is a trip to the Guinness Storehouse, where you get a good view over the city and where you can taste Ireland’s characteristic stout, Guinness. One of the most iconic landmarks of Dublin are Ha’Penny Bridge, an iron footbridge across the River Liffey, and Trinity College. While the latter is also worth a visit for its architecture alone, it is what is kept inside that attracts most visitors. In it, you can see the Book of Kells, which was created by monks around 800 AD and is one of the oldest books in the world. For sports, take a trip to Croke Park, the fourth largest stadium in Europe to watch a game of Gaelic football.

Numerous domestic as well as international bus routes connect Dublin to cities in Ireland and abroad. Coach companies such as Aircoach, Bus Éireann and Eurolines UK offer inexpensive bus tickets to Belfast, London and many other cities. The main bus station in Dublin is Dublin Busáras.
