OK so...wow. Let's just say, this was not a great experience. The pro's: the bus got there on time; & we arrived on time (about 10 min after the schedule\ which--given the vagaries of traffic--I consider on time). The driving was smooth & uneventful. The guy who took our tickets was polite and efficient. My seat was also pretty comfortable--but (and here come the con's) it was also very cramped, and the bus smelled bad. It seemed to be coming from the upholstery: a lingering odor like stale cigarette smoke. It was clearly an old bus, with old, worn seats----which I don't mind as long as they're comfortable. But they were too small and cramped. The USB plug didn't work well, and it kept coming unplugged which--ok, isn't the worst thing in the world but it's annoying. (&admittedly I have an old phone, so some of it's on me) And maybe there's something about being crammed into a cheap, crowded bus, but someone in the back got into the face of a fellow passenger and it almost came to blows (in fact she said she 'had a knife'). So when this site asked me 'how safe did you feel,' while the driving itself was decent, I almost gave 2 stars because it really looked like we might be sucked into a melee. (Fortunately, after some de-escalation, it died down) Would I ride BBBus again? I hope not. I'll gladly pay more for more decent ride. As I understand it, it's a bit of a crap shoot bc most companies don't have their own fleet, so it depends on which fleet they're using on that day. I just rode with Ourbus from NY to Boston a few weeks back and it was perfectly pleasant: decent sized seats, clean, no bad odor - even a clean bathroom. (I didn't venture into the BBB bathroom--tho I saw graffiti in it when someone opened the door). I've ridden lots of busses in lots of places around the globe in my day -- including African bush taxis missing part of the floor. So I'm not picky....And this was my worst bus ride for the US. But it's cheap and it got me there. So there's that.
