Oxford is a city in the south of England and above all famous for one thing: its university. The University of Oxford was first mentioned in the 12th century and is therefore the oldest uni in the English-speaking world. The whole city is basically shaped by its long academic traditions: Most of the museums for instance are part of the university. One famous example is the Ashmolean Museum, the oldest museum in the UK, which hosts famous pieces of art as well as remnants of English history such as Guy Fawkes’s lantern. Also worth a visit is the Bodleian Library, second in size only to the British Library in London. One of Oxford’s main landmarks is the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, which gives visitors a good view over the city and its many towers. These have served as inspiration for Oxford’s nickname: the city of the dreaming spires.

The most commonly used bus stop is Oxford Gloucester Green, which is very close to the Ashmolean museum.
