Cambridge is a university city about 80 kilometres north of London. On average, every fifth of the city’s inhabitants is a student, which influences the city to a large degree. Many museums, such as the Fitzwilliam Museum for instance, are run by the University of Cambridge, which was founded in 1209. The city also boasts itself of a large amount of festivals and events: The Strawberry Fair takes place on the first Saturday in June and is a large outdoor fair which promises fun for the whole family. The annual Cambridge Shakespeare Festival takes place over eight weeks in summer and features numerous outdoor performances of the bard’s works. If you’re into sports then you should either watch a rowing contest or a football game. Although Cambridge United F. C. might not top the premier league, the city itself has played an important part in the invention of the modern sport as the 1848 Cambridge Rules have influenced the current FA guidelines.

Most British coach companies provide inexpensive connections to and from Cambridge, with some of them even providing free WiFi, which makes the coach the perfect means of transports for busy students. The bus providers Eurolines UK, megabus and National Express mostly make use of the bus stop in Cambridge city centre, which is located close to Downing College and Anglia Ruskin University.
